Paper-Based Collection Tools
At Piedra Data Services, we recognize that accuracy of any paper-based data collection effort depends on the quality of the form design, printing, and distribution methods.
- Design - Customized, paper-based instruments, such as surveys and
reporting forms, are designed to collect information from key stakeholders. Our team works
closely with each client to develop custom forms with user-friendly layouts that aim
to maximize response rates and data reliability. Forms are designed in-house and include
a variety of data capture fields that allow for handwritten entries, Optical Mark Read
(OMR) bubbles, checkboxes, signature and image capture, bar codes, and other fields,
as necessary.
- Printing – In order to produce forms of utmost precision, we
outsource printing services to industry leaders known for upholding high-quality printing
standards and meeting rigorous delivery deadlines, while maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Distribution - Our team coordinates the distribution and return of
all pertinent materials. Since delivery methods may significantly influence response
rates, it is important to facilitate the process for respondents in order to maximize
the quantity of data collected. We strive to provide systematic handling and timely
delivery of materials.
Web-Based Collection Instruments
Web-based data collection solutions can be a cost-effective method of reaching potential
respondents quickly and easily. At Piedra Data Services, we offer comprehensive online tools
that aim to incorporate the inherently dynamic features available to software-based systems.
Web surveys and forms are programmed to enhance ease of use and flexibility, and add
wide-ranging functionality to traditional paper-based forms. Below are several advantages of
utilizing Web forms:
- Skip patterns can be integrated into Web forms, allowing for unique items to be displayed to subsets of respondents.
- Instructions and definitions can be set to appear for individual questions, making it easier to provide question-specific assistance.
- Answer choices can be designed to allow either single or multiple responses.
- Audio clip capabilities can be included, providing the option of reading an item or instructional section aloud.
- Flexible management of password-protected access groups can allow for additional security features and confidentiality.
Data collected via Web forms are stored in a secure database and evaluated using the
same rigorous data verification process applied to data gathered from paper-based instruments.
