Customized, paper-based instruments, such as reporting forms and surveys, are designed to collect information from key stakeholders. Our team works closely with each agency to develop custom forms with user-friendly layouts that aim to maximize data reliability. Forms are designed in-house and include a variety of data capture fields.

Paper-based materials are processed using state-of-the-art, high-speed scanners and sophisticated, custom-built information capture systems. For scannable forms, the system uses Optical Mark Reader (OMR) and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology to accurately read barcodes, bubbled item responses, and hand or machine print. Similarly, a custom-designed warehouse management system used to receive, process, inventory, and store secure materials contains built-in redundancy to ensure that secure material barcodes are captured at different tiers. To satisfy the highest standards of data integrity, data validation and cleansing routines are built into the system and highly-trained verifiers review records flagged by the system.


Online Data Collection

Piedra Data Services offers comprehensive online tools that aim to incorporate the inherently dynamic features available to software-based systems. These data collection solutions are programmed to enhance ease of use and flexibility, and add wide-ranging functionality to traditional paper-based forms, including password-protected access, instructions, and skip patterns applied to individual items or users. Information collected via online forms is stored in secure databases and evaluated using the same strict data verification processes applied to data gathered from paper-based instruments.
